Training Circular No. 7 of 2008

No.19-TR(4)/2008                                                                        Dated: 7th August, 2008

Subject :- Extension of maximum age limit for admission in pre-sea courses

The maximum age limit restrictions for all the pre-sea training courses were imposed under DGS Circular No.7 of 2005 dated 17.06.2005. Vide Training Circular No.6 of 2007 dated 11.09.2007, maximum age limit was increased to 25 years for the GP Rating and CCMC courses, as it was felt that restricting the age limit was having a severe impact on the rural intake and skill management of ratings for these courses.

Keeping in view the worldwide shortage of officers in Merchant Navy and to facilitate the candidates from rural areas to join the seafaring profession, in continuation of Training Circular No.6 of 2007 dated 11.09.2007 and in partial modification of para 7 of DGS Circular No.7 of 2005 dated 17.06.2005, the Competent Authority is hereby pleased to increase the maximum age limit upto 25 years for admission in the following pre-sea courses:
